David Downs cited in HHS's historic rescheduling recommendation

Today, the US Health and Human Services Agency released its historic recommendation that marijuana be moved to schedule III of the Controlled Substances Act.

Among the substantive review, a citation for "(Downs, 2016)".  The HHS has cited a 2016 piece I wrote for Scientific American: "The Science behind the DEA's Long War on Marijuana."

HHS' recommendation now sits with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

I'm thrilled to have played the tiniest part in helping end the cannabinoid dark age in the US. Thanks also goes to my editor Curtis Brainard, and author of "The Protectors", John C. McWilliams.

Onward.
